Activities in October, 2012 -(3)


The farm of the Student Farm Project Group in Kesbewa was damaged by heavy rain and strong wind yesterday  (19.10. 2012).
Many trees felt down so the project team had to plucked long potatoes earlier.
They sold some of them with Rs 40.00 per Kg.
The total harvest was 25 Kg from 36 Trees from their garden.

We have Planned to Plant sum vegetlbes and Fruit trees at the KGH Center
Garden. I Bought that plant from kandy. We hope to Plant them affter
Cleaned the Garden.

Activities in October, 2012

The youth volunteer team visited Trincomali area to donate the items that they packed in September with CEALO Global Harmony, Japan.

The people in the area lost almost everything through the domestic war but they have land to cultivate. Shihasara Foundation will continue to support their self-reliance.


 






























Activities in September, 2012

A youth volunteer team has workd on Farm Project since 2011. They have made many experimental works on the farm which they cultivated by themselves.

These are their experimental work report.


They visited the Karuna Global Harmony Center (KGHC) in September, 2012 and had a meeting with a Group of CEALO Global Harmony, Japan (GHJ) who has been a log-time partner and sponsor Non-Profit-Organization of Sihasara Foundation.

The KGHC is established as the activity center for humanitarian projects, educational/training project for self-relaiance and International exchange programs for individual/world peace with support of CEALO Global Harmony, Japan and individual donors and suppoters in Sri Lanka.

The youth volunteer team was taken roles of a humanitarian aid project for 48 families in need in Trincomali, Northern Sri Lanka and made 48 bags of backup supplies for the family.

The team went to the local market to purchase following items for the family.

- Food: Rice, Sugger, Salt, Kitchen Oils,Beans, Spices, Dried Noodles, Dried Fish, Tea... etc.,
- Toiletries: Soaps, Toothbrashes, Toothpaste, Mosquite incense...etc.,
    - Cooking: Plastic bucket for water, Cooking pans and other cookwares and tableware...etc,.
    - Stationaries: Notebooks and Pens

They made small package devide out 50-60kg of sugger, salt, beans and all that.

They made 50 packages.


The Japanese organization had 3 months training program for students from Myanmar in2009 through 2011 and one of the student is now working for the organization. He came to Sri Lanka as a member of the GHJ and instructed the Sri Lankan volunteer team how to maintain solar system which was installed during the traing program.



The youth volunteer team reported their Farm Project to Ven. Gayuna Cealo who is the founder of GHJ and a adviser of Shihasara Foundation.
